Testosterone 'could prevent' Alzheimer's:
Men with higher levels of the hormone testosterone could be more resistant to Alzheimer's disease, a new study claims.

US scientists say they have discovered a direct link between a lack of the male hormone and the onset of similar neurodegenerative diseases in mice.

Researchers from the University of Southern California argue that testosterone-based hormone therapy could held treat elderly men with Alzheimer's, as well as aiding the prevention of the disease altogether.

In the study, published today in the Journal of Neuroscience, laboratory mice had their ability to produce testosterone disabled and then divided into two groups. The first group received supplements of the hormone while the second was given none.
